Welcome to The Movie Meeting Ground. This project was created as a means to talk about movies. Old classic movies, movies we loved and hated from the 80s, movies that just came out, and movies that are still in pre-production. What we hope comes out of this discussion is something new to the internet. While we have no false pretenses that our little corner of the web will somehow attract attention, whoever does show up will hopefully help us create this new environment.
Currently, writing about movies on the web seems to lead down two paths. First, your random IMDB person who incites all sorts of comments about how either some movie is the best or worst of all time, and a lot of people scrambling to defend the movie or make fun of the IMDB user. If that’s what floats you boat, knock yourself out, this isn’t for you. Second, the critic. They review movies…and many review them well. But aside from whatever bias their paychecks might bring to the table, that doesn’t really allow for discussion. While surely reviews will be a part of this site, it will hopefully be a vehicle for further conversation rather than the end-all-be-all.
So we arrive here. A home to something else, the meeting ground. Want to discuss what you think happened in that ambiguous ending? Sure. How about the symbolism behind that tapestry? Of course! Why you loved a movie that I just didn’t quiet get? Bring it on, provided you can back it up. Or atleast be respectful. Because that’s what a lot of it will come down to. Just because I didn’t like a movie doesn’t make it a bad movie….and many just came racing to mind.
We’ll update when we can, we look forward to your comments. And if you would like to share some posts of your own, we’d be happy to post them for you giving you the credit. Or, if for some reason we have also touched upon a passion of yours, maybe you’d like to be an admin on this blog as well.
